We’ve launched a new initiative to save packaging

We’re pleased to announce that we have added new ‘hock tags’ to our premium grade whole chickens to reduce packaging and to highlight the Soanes name and provenance.

Our Head of Sales and Marketing, Ben Lee explained the rationale for the initiative: “It’s a challenge to reassure customers about the quality and provenance of our chicken without a label, but we’re confident that this tag does the job well.

“Not only do the tags save packaging, but they show people that they’re buying one of our Great Taste award winning chickens that have been reared responsibly here in Yorkshire. We believe that it’s a first for the poultry industry and shows how we are combining traditional values with fresh thinking.”

The move is the latest in a series of environmental initiatives that include solar arrays, biomass boilers, wind turbines, ultra-energy efficient refrigeration systems and a heat recovery system. The combined output from the renewable technology deployed in our integrated supply chain totals 11,000MW and is enough to power 650 homes.

We have also refreshed our website to include a page that reflects its sustainable values – you can take a look here.
