We were delighted to welcome our local MP on site to showcase our green credentials recently.
Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, visited us to see our newly installed Heat Recovery System.
The system, supplied by Beverly firm, DK Heat Recovery, and installed by our local refrigeration contractor, AK Refrigeration, is a 144kW heat recovery system that is capable of producing 39,000 litres per day from the four refrigeration units that chill our birds. Water is stored in a buffer tank until it is required.
Mr. Stuart was impressed with the green initiative: “The heat recovery equipment that Soanes has installed is amazing in its simplicity and effectiveness, giving huge benefits to the business and helping our environmental targets for carbon reduction.
“I believe this technology could be a real success in the UK and I will be supporting the cause to get it on the map. This should be a consideration for all refrigeration systems.”
T. Soanes and Son’s General Manager, Nigel Upson, is delighted with the performance and efficiency of the new system: “The annual saving with the buffer tank on current production is 428,000 kWh, or £16,000 per annum, which is great news both for the environment and the profitability of the business.”
In sustainability terms, the saving translates to 92 tonnes of carbon per annum.
