Our delicious chicken has won more Great Taste Awards

The team at Church Hill Farm are celebrating after three of our Grain Fed, Red Tractor Assured products were recognised in the prestigious fine food and drink accreditation scheme, The Great Taste Awards.

Our whole chicken was awarded a two star award, and our wings and Yorkshire Christmas Cockerel won one star awards after going through rounds of blind-taste testing.

The judges’ feedback for the Grain Fed whole chicken included: ‘A handsome looking bird, this is plump with great colour on the skin, which is also wonderfully flavoursome. The meat cuts really well, and delivers a dense flavour-filled eat’ and ‘there really is very little we can say to fault it – the moistness of the meat and the flavour, given no seasoning and just simply cooked, go to show what a difference rearing can make. Delicious.” They also commented that the Yorkshire Christmas Cockerel ‘would be a very reliable bird on the Christmas table and a more flavourful alternative to turkey.’

Our factory manager Dmitrijus Solovjovas said: “Over the last decade, our chicken has won 25 of these prestigious awards that are dubbed the Oscars of the food industry.

“The ability to rear consistently delicious chickens is a testament to our farmers’ high welfare standards and to the skill of our operations team. It’s a real team effort, and I couldn’t be more pleased.”

The Great Taste Awards are organised by the Guild of Fine Food and are the largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme. They support and promote food and drink producers, large and small, giving buyers and food lovers in the UK and overseas reliable recommendations for great-tasting food.

Due to our success, both in this year’s competition and in previous years, we can use the coveted Great Taste Producer logo on our marketing materials.
