Easy Beer Can Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

Serves 6

  • 1 Soanes whole chicken
  • 1 tbsp Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil
  • 30 - 50g Chick Magnet savoury rub for chicken
  • 1 can of Grill Magnet Yorkshire Pale Ale

Method

Follow this advice for easy beer can chicken which is guaranteed to keep the meat really tender and juicy.

1. Get your Kamado Grill or BBQ up to temperature

2. Drizzle the chicken with rapeseed oil and coat it with lots of Chick Magnet savoury rub. Massage the rub into the skin and inside the cavity

3. Remove the label from the beer can

4. Open the beer and pour roughly 1/5 into a glass to enjoy whilst you’re cooking (we hope you bought one can for you and one for the bird!)

5. Lower the chicken onto the can, legs down, so it looks like it is sitting upright with the can in its cavity, or pour the beer into your chicken roaster

6. Stand the chicken and can upright on the BBQ, either in a roasting tin or directly on the grill

7. Cook for 1 hr 30 mins (based on a 2.5 kg chicken) until the chicken is browned, the meat is cooked to 75˚C and the juices run clear. If the juices aren’t clear, cook for a further 10 mins, then check again.

8. Remove the chicken from the BBQ, cover with foil and leave to rest for 20 mins before serving.

9. Carefully remove the chicken from the beer can and serve. Allow the contents of the beer can to cool and discard.

10. Serve with your choice of accompaniments.
