Congratulations, Mel!

We’re delighted to share the great news that Mel Jackson from sister company, Clive Soanes Broilers won the Farmworker of the Year award at the Farmers Weekly Awards that were held in London last week.

A delighted Mel said: “I’m over the moon to win this award. Thank you to Farmers Weekly and to the judges. Thanks to Claire Wright for nominating me and to the team at Clive Soanes Broilers this one’s for you – what a great team.”

The Farmworker of the Year award was sponsored by The Original Muck Boot Co. Darren Layard, vice-president, international markets, said: “Mel’s perseverance and hard-working attitude shines bright. Her ingenuity alongside her dedication to animal welfare is truly inspiring, making Mel a very deserving winner of the Farmworker of the Year Award.”

The awards were presented at a black-tie dinner that was hosted by comedian Russell Kane. They are organised by Farmers Weekly and celebrate the very best of British agriculture by recognising hard-working and innovative farmers across the UK.

Mel worked for Soanes Poultry for 30 years before joining Clive Soanes Broilers as  Poultry and Farms Supervisor in 2021. When she’s not working, she enjoys upcycling furniture and gardening.

Congratulations on your very well deserved award, Mel. We’re so proud of you!
