Celebrating our valued customers

As we approach our 75th anniversary next year, we have been reflecting on some of the great people that we have worked with over the years and have commissioned a limited number of celebration plaques.

Our Director of Sales and Marketing, Ben Lee was delighted to present the first of these recently to Ken Briggs Ltd, who we’ve been proud to supply for over 30 years.

Ken Briggs Ltd began trading just five years after us, in 1952, when Ken Briggs Senior started rearing chickens in his spare time after work and selling them on the local markets around Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

As demand Ken Senior’s chicken grew, he resigned from his day job and set up Peckmill Poultry. Ken Junior took over the company when he passed his driving test and was responsible for introducing a wholesale arm to the business that is still thriving today.

Ken Briggs’ fleet of four sign written vehicles deliver quality, responsibly sourced meat and poultry to customers all over the East Midlands and the business is still a family business that thrives on excellent customer service.

In 2015, the team of 10 moved into new premises on the original site of Peckmill Poultry. The business is still very much a family affair whose commitment to customer service excellence is paramount.

Receiving the plaque, Ken Briggs said: “My business was founded in 1952 by my late father Ken Briggs who ran the business under the mantra of:

To be successful in business you had to be better than or be different to.

I can say with pride that he was both.  We now supply customers with not only poultry, but having added lamb, beef and pork products to our extensive sales portfolio. Our delivery area ranges from the Humber to the Wash and across country to Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

We have an excellent relationship with Soanes Poultry as I feel both companies have an excellent work ethic. Our trading relationship has spanned over thirty years and I am proud to be the first to accept this prestigious award from them and wish them all the very best for the future.”
